Israel Launches “Rising Lion” Operation: Over 200 Jets Strike Nuclear and Military Targets in Iran
Israeli army confirms assassination of over 10 Iranian nuclear scientists and destruction of key military infrastructure during preemptive air assault.
Watan-The Israeli army announced that more than 200 of its Air Force fighter jets attacked over 100 targets during a large-scale assault on Iran launched early Friday.
In the early hours of Friday, Israel launched a major operation against Iran named “Rising Lion,” during which it bombed nuclear installations in various areas and assassinated military leaders and scientists.
Israeli army spokesperson Avi Dovrin said at a press conference:”More than 200 Israeli Air Force planes participated in the opening strikes on Iran this morning.”
He added that the fighter jets dropped more than 330 missiles on approximately 100 targets during the strikes.
Separately, Israeli Army Radio quoted an unnamed security source as saying:”The Air Force has so far carried out five waves of attacks across Iran.”
The source added:”We eliminated more than 10 Iranian nuclear scientists in the opening strike who are identified as knowledge hubs in Iran’s nuclear program.”
According to the same source,”The assassinations in Iran were carried out based on valuable intelligence received by the intelligence branch throughout 2024.”
He said:”If our targeted strike on Hezbollah’s top figures took 10 days, we executed a similar strike on Iran in just 10 minutes.”
“A Long-Term Offensive Plan”
Channel 14 reported a senior Israeli military official as saying:”We achieved an unprecedented success, delivering a severe blow to the leadership of the Iranian army and Revolutionary Guard, as well as to nuclear scientists.”
The official, whose name was not mentioned, added:”We have a broad and long-term offensive plan for the coming days. Complex days lie ahead.”
On Friday morning, the army stated that:”Under political directive, we launched a precise and integrated preemptive strike aimed at crippling Iran’s nuclear program.”
It added:”Dozens of fighter jets have just completed the opening strike, targeting dozens of military objectives belonging to the Iranian regime, including nuclear targets in different parts of Iran.”
