Al-Qassam Brigades Target Israeli Forces and Settlements Amid Ongoing War on Gaza
Hamas’ military wing launches mortar and rocket attacks on Israeli troop gatherings and settlements near Khan Younis in retaliation for Israel’s continuing war on Gaza.
Watan-On Sunday, the Al-Qassam Brigades, the military wing of Hamas, announced that it had targeted gatherings of Israeli soldiers north of Khan Younis, in southern Gaza, as well as two settlements adjacent to the Strip.
These operations come as part of the Palestinian factions’ response to the genocidal war waged by Israel on the Gaza Strip, with U.S. support, since October 7, 2023. The war has involved killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement, all while ignoring international appeals and orders from the International Court of Justice (ICJ) to cease its actions.
In a statement, Al-Qassam said its fighters shelled “enemy gatherings” in the areas of Al-Satar and Al-Qarara, north of Khan Younis, using mortar shells.
The Brigades also stated they targeted the settlements of “Nirim” and “Ein HaShlosha” (literally “The Third Eye”) near the Gaza border with Rajoum rockets (114mm caliber).
Meanwhile, Israeli army spokesperson Avichay Adraee stated on the platform “X” (formerly Twitter):“Following alerts in the Gaza envelope area, it appears a rocket was launched from southern Gaza and landed in the Nirim area, with no reported injuries.”

According to Israeli military data, since the beginning of the war on Gaza on October 7, 2023, a total of 883 Israeli soldiers have been killed.
Additionally, 6,057 soldiers have been wounded, including 2,770 during ground battles inside Gaza.
Observers note that Israel conceals much of its human and material losses, enforcing strict censorship, banning photos and videos of damage, and controlling all public information through vetted official sources.
The war has so far resulted in over 193,000 Palestinian casualties (killed and wounded), most of them children and women, with more than 10,000 still missing. The assault has also caused hundreds of thousands to be displaced, and famine has claimed the lives of many, including dozens of children.
