Israeli Shas Party to Back Bill to Dissolve Knesset Amid Discontent with Netanyahu

Ultra-Orthodox Shas Party signals major political shift, pledging to vote for preliminary reading of Knesset dissolution bill on Wednesday.

Watan-The Israeli ultra-Orthodox Shas Party has announced its intention to vote in favor of the “Knesset Dissolution” bill in its preliminary reading, scheduled for Wednesday.

This was confirmed by Shas spokesperson Asher Medina in a statement to the religious radio station “Kol Barama,” as reported by the Hebrew daily Yedioth Ahronoth on Monday.

Medina said: “At this stage, we will vote on Wednesday to dissolve the Knesset. We are disappointed with Netanyahu.”

He repeated the same statement to the Israeli Broadcasting Authority.

He added: “We do not take pleasure in bringing down a right-wing government, but we feel the Haredi community is being targeted, and we can no longer tolerate the current situation.”
