Israel Admits Gaza War Progress Is Slow as Netanyahu Vows to Continue Despite Heavy Losses

Israeli Official Says Military Goals May Take Months as Hamas Remains Intact; Netanyahu Repeats Pledge to Defeat Hamas at Any Cost.

Watan-Yedioth Ahronoth quoted a senior Israeli security official stating that achieving the objectives of Israel’s ongoing military operations in Gaza will take months at the current pace, describing the approach as “too slow” and extremely calculated.

The official noted that moving to the next phase of the campaign would require a political decision—a step that would “likely result in the death of hostages.”

Regarding Hamas, the official said: “They are not in a good position, but far from collapsing. There are no signs of disintegration or panic. Despite the elimination of top commanders, Hamas continues to operate in an organized manner.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, who is wanted by the International Criminal Court for alleged war crimes in Gaza, recently vowed to continue the war “until all its goals are achieved.” He repeated his pledge to defeat Hamas, free all Israeli hostages, and ensure that Gaza will no longer pose a threat to Israel.

Netanyahu’s remarks came hours after Israel announced the death of three soldiers, admitting, “The price Israelis are paying in this war is steep—but necessary.”

Since October 7, 2023, Israel, with U.S. support, has been carrying out a genocidal war in Gaza involving mass killings, starvation, destruction, and forced displacement—ignoring international pleas and binding orders by the International Court of Justice to cease hostilities.

The Israeli war has resulted in over 181,000 Palestinians killed or wounded, most of them children and women, with more than 11,000 missing, hundreds of thousands displaced, widespread famine claiming the lives of many—including children, and the complete devastation of Gaza’s infrastructure.
