Trump Revokes Harvard’s Authority to Host International Students

DHS Orders Foreign Students at Harvard to Transfer or Leave U.S., Citing “Unsafe Environment” and Ties to Chinese Communist Party.

Watan-The administration of U.S. President Donald Trump has revoked Harvard University’s authority to enroll international students, escalating an ongoing dispute with the prestigious institution. The government stated that thousands of current students must either transfer to other universities or leave the country.

The Department of Homeland Security (DHS) announced the measure on Thursday, claiming Harvard created an unsafe campus environment by allowing “anti-American and pro-terrorism agitators” to assault Jewish students on campus.

Without presenting evidence, the department also accused Harvard of coordinating with the Chinese Communist Party.

“This means Harvard University can no longer enroll foreign students, and current international students must transfer to other institutions or lose their legal status,” the statement read.

Harvard currently hosts around 6,800 international students at its Cambridge, Massachusetts campus—more than a quarter of its total student population. Most are graduate students from over 100 countries.

In the statement, DHS Secretary Kristi Noem said:“This administration holds Harvard University accountable for promoting violence, anti-Semitism, and coordination with the Chinese Communist Party on its campus.”

The U.S. government also revoked Harvard’s certification in the Student and Exchange Visitor Program, which allows it to sponsor international students for visas to study in the United States.
