Israeli Special Forces Assassinate Resistance Commander Ahmad Sarhan in Khan Younis Raid

Palestinian Group Confirms Leader's Death Amid Massive Israeli Assault; Dozens Killed in Escalating Strikes on Gaza.

Watan-The Palestinian Al-Nasser Salah al-Din Brigades announced on Monday the martyrdom of their Special Operations Commander, Ahmad Kamel Sarhan, following a raid by an Israeli special forces unit in the southern Gaza city of Khan Younis. The incursion was accompanied by heavy Israeli bombardment and artillery fire.

In a statement on Telegram, the Brigades said Sarhan heroically engaged the Israeli unit that attempted to arrest him at his home, confirming the operation’s failure. They declared that the assassination of resistance leaders would only strengthen their resolve to continue fighting until the end of Israeli occupation, calling the attack a “desperate attempt to subjugate the Palestinian people.”

Conflicting Reports Follow Israeli Raid That Killed Resistance Leader in Khan Younis

According to Anadolu Agency, security sources and eyewitnesses reported that an Israeli special forces unit infiltrated western Khan Younis early Monday and shot Sarhan dead. The sources confirmed that Israeli troops also detained his wife and children following the killing.

Security officials and witnesses noted that the Israeli unit left behind a camouflaged box resembling displaced persons’ luggage before withdrawing. The exact method of infiltration remains unknown. Medical sources confirmed Sarhan’s body was transferred to Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Younis.
Local radio station Al-Aqsa, affiliated with Hamas, reported that Israeli forces entered multiple streets in Khan Younis and executed a Palestinian. As of 7:50 GMT, the Israeli army had not acknowledged the operation.
In his first comment on the raid, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu stated vaguely in a video on Telegram: “Our soldiers are doing a great job there, including this morning—I can’t go into details.” He added that Israel “will take control of all areas in the Strip.”
Conflicting Israeli reports followed: news site Walla cited a senior Israeli official confirming the special operation, while public broadcaster Kan denied any such mission took place. The army later issued a general statement noting that it is “at the peak of the Gideon’s Chariots operation” across Gaza, without specifically addressing the Khan Younis incident.
