Watan-Israeli police announced on Monday the detention of a tourist who left a backpack containing materials for making Molotov cocktails in front of the U.S. Embassy building in Tel Aviv.

Police did not reveal the nationality of the 27-year-old man, but Israeli media reported that the suspect is a German tourist.

According to the police, the man approached security personnel early in the afternoon, and a verbal altercation broke out.

The suspect allegedly spat in the face of one of the guards and left the backpack in front of the embassy building. Bomb squad experts later discovered flammable substances and bottles inside the bag. The suspect was located and arrested a few hours later.
