Israeli Daily to Army Chief: You’re Killing Innocent Children and Matching Netanyahu in Total Failure

Unanswered Questions on Civilian Casualties, Hostage Failures, and Moral Responsibility Amid Escalating Israeli Military Operations.

Watan-Dear Chief of Staff,

Here are some pressing questions that have emerged following your conduct since assuming your position:

It has now been 50 days since you ordered the resumption of fighting in Gaza, under the justification—which you repeat in every public statement—that your top priority is freeing the hostages, followed by the destruction of Hamas.

The results of this operation are horrifying:

  • Hundreds of uninvolved Gazans have been killed, many of them children and women.

  • Six Israeli soldiers have died—meaning they are no longer among us, in this world or the next.

  • Many more soldiers have been wounded, some seriously, and will remain permanently disabled.

  • Not a single hostage has been freed.

By the very standards you yourself set for continuing the war, this is a complete failure. No goals have been achieved—neither freeing the hostages nor defeating Hamas.

Now, you’ve issued dozens of Order 8 reserve call-ups, aiming to expand the war. This wasn’t imposed on you by the political echelon; these are your plans, which you insist on implementing.

Are you troubled by the evident failure of military pressure to achieve your stated goals? That soldiers have died—and continue to die—for a mission that hasn’t brought about their release?

Do you feel any moral distress about the mass killing of civilians in Gaza, for which you are directly responsible, despite this doing nothing to advance the hostage cause?

What has changed in your plans?

What new tactics do you intend to use after this massive reserve mobilization and the upcoming offensive?

Why do you believe this time your methods will succeed in rescuing the hostages?

Do you consider indiscriminate killing of civilians a morally acceptable method toward that goal?

And if you fail again, is it still morally acceptable?

Do you know that the children killed in Gaza due to your operational orders are innocent?

If you do—how do you live with yourself?

Is it ethical to call up tens of thousands of reservists who have already served hundreds of days since October 7, while the government continues to exempt ultra-Orthodox (Haredim) from service?

Can you look the families of hostages in the eye and swear that continuing the war does not endanger their loved ones every hour?

If not—because you know it’s a lie—why do you lie?

Don’t you think the Chief of Staff owes the public the truth?

Are you convinced that opening a new front in Syria, under the pretext of protecting the Druze, is genuinely in Israel’s security interest? Aren’t you risking a war with Turkey?

When you assumed office, you declared 2025 would be the year the fighting ends.

Yet it looks like a year that seeks war—in Gaza, the West Bank, Syria, and Lebanon.

You are sacrificing soldiers, Gazan civilians, the hostages, the normalization deal with Saudi Arabia, the functioning of Ben Gurion Airport, and the health of Israel’s economy.

No answer is expected from you—because the political echelon decides.

But these are your plans, your proposals, and your promises.

People are dying because of you—without justification.
