UN Slams Gaza Killings as “Erasure of Palestinian Life” Amid Ongoing Israeli Attacks
43 Killed in New Israeli Strikes, Including Aid Seekers; EU Warns of Rights Violations and Reviews Ties with Israel.
Watan-The Israeli army’s bloody attacks on Gaza continue, with dozens of new casualties, including siblings, displaced persons, and hungry aid seekers. Fierce airstrikes and house demolitions are ongoing in areas of ground incursion in both northern and southern Gaza, amid growing UN condemnation of what it describes as the killing of starving civilians.
A senior UN official has described the situation in Gaza as nothing less than the erasure of Palestinian life.
According to hospital sources in Gaza speaking to Al Jazeera, 43 people were killed by Israeli fire in the Strip since dawn on Monday, including 20 individuals waiting for humanitarian aid.
Jonathan Whittall, head of the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs (OCHA) in the occupied Palestinian territories, stated:“What is happening in Gaza is a massacre, the use of hunger as a weapon, forced displacement, and death sentences imposed on people who are simply trying to survive.”
He added:“This is an erasure of Palestinian life. People are being killed trying to reach food, while the world’s attention is elsewhere.”

In parallel, EU foreign policy chief Kaja Kallas called for urgent improvement of the humanitarian situation in Gaza, and emphasized that Israel is in violation of Article 2 of the Human Rights Charter.
Speaking after a meeting of EU foreign ministers, Kallas presented the results of the EU’s review of its partnership agreement with Israel.
She clarified:“The goal is not to punish Israel, but to bring about tangible improvements in the lives of people in Gaza.”
Kallas affirmed that the EU will present the review findings to Israel and work toward improving the situation in Gaza, stating:“This is the main concern of EU member states.”
She also warned that if conditions in Gaza do not improve, the EU may consider “additional measures” against Israel.
