Israeli Development of AI Tool for Surveillance and Repression of Palestinians
New Israeli AI initiative under Unit 8200 raises concerns over enhanced surveillance, privacy violations, and potential human rights abuses against Palestinians.
Watan-In a move that raises concerns, media reports have revealed a new Israeli initiative to develop an advanced artificial intelligence tool named the “Large Language Model” (LLM), under the supervision of Israeli intelligence Unit 8200.
The goal of this project, according to security sources, is to enhance the occupation’s ability to monitor Palestinians and analyze their personal data through more advanced means, opening the door to a new wave of espionage and violations.
The new system relies on advanced machine learning techniques, where it is trained on vast amounts of data collected from Palestinians, including conversations, communications, and social media interactions. By analyzing this information, the occupation can predict individuals’ behavior and identify potential targets for arrest or liquidation operations, which constitutes a serious violation of human rights and privacy.

Israeli AI Tool to Intensify Surveillance and Arrests of Palestinians
According to Israeli intelligence sources, the key feature of the new model lies in its speed in data analysis, giving the occupation’s army the ability to process vast amounts of information in a short time, allowing for unprecedented intensification of security operations. The sources also confirmed that artificial intelligence will help expand the scope of random arrests by classifying increasing numbers of Palestinians as suspects, without concrete evidence to implicate them.
This development raises significant concerns among human rights experts. Nadim Nashif, director of the Arab Center for Social Media Development, pointed out that Israel is using Palestinians as a testing ground to develop electronic repression tools based on artificial intelligence, which could pave the way for a comprehensive surveillance system that entrenches occupation and apartheid.
This move faces widespread criticism amid fears that artificial intelligence will become a primary tool for the occupation to continue its violations against Palestinians, with no international oversight or accountability. Will we soon witness a dangerous shift in the occupation’s methods, including systematic digital espionage as part of the repression apparatus against Palestinians?
