UK Millionaires Donate Less to Charity Than General Public, Study Finds
Watan-A study conducted by the Charities Aid Foundation found that wealthy individuals in the United Kingdom allocate a smaller percentage of their wealth to charitable causes compared to ordinary people.
The research indicated that if millionaires in Britain donated just 1% of their wealth, the charitable sector could receive an additional £12 billion.
According to the Charities Aid Foundation, this amount could be raised if all millionaires in the country—estimated at 536,673 individuals and classified as high-net-worth individuals—donated 1% of their investable assets, as reported by the British news agency PA Media.
The study revealed that this group donated the equivalent of just 0.4% of their total investable assets (£2 trillion in total) in 2023, amounting to approximately £7.96 billion.
In contrast, the general public in the UK donated around £13.9 billion to charities in the same year, which represents 1.6% of their total income.
