Israeli Threat Over High Dam Sparks Outrage Amid Growing American Pressure on Egypt

Egypt Faces Escalating Tensions as Hypothetical Scenario of Dam Attack Raises Fears of Forced Palestinian Relocation.

Watan-Tensions in the region have escalated after the Israeli website “Nzeef” published a hypothetical scenario simulating an attack on Egypt’s High Dam, sparking widespread outrage in Egyptian and Arab circles.

This veiled threat comes amid increasing American pressure on Egyptian President Abdel Fattah el-Sisi to accept a plan for the forced relocation of Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai—a plan that Donald Trump and the Israeli government are attempting to impose on Cairo and Jordan, amidst growing Arab opposition.

Catastrophic Scenario Threatening Egypt

According to the Hebrew website’s report, any attack on the High Dam would result in its structural collapse, causing massive floods that would inundate cities and villages along the Nile River. The scenario, built using artificial intelligence techniques, shows that millions of cubic meters of water would rush through with immense force within minutes, destroying vital installations, military bases, and infrastructure in Egypt. The report estimated human casualties between 1.7 and 10.5 million deaths, with Egypt entering a nationwide state of emergency, including power outages, disrupted transportation systems, and communications failures, which could paralyze the country entirely.

Although the report claimed that the scenario was “hypothetical” and did not reflect Israel’s true intentions to target the High Dam, the timing of its publication came at a time when Egypt is under unprecedented pressure from Washington and Tel Aviv, leading many to interpret it as an implicit threat to push Cairo into complying with American demands for the forced relocation plan.

Anger and Concerns Over American Pressure

The Israeli report sparked widespread anger in Egypt, with many considering it an attempt to blackmail Cairo into accepting resettlement plans pushed by Washington and Tel Aviv. Egyptian activists took to social media platforms to react to the hypothetical scenario, asserting that such threats reveal the true Israeli ambitions in the region and that the occupation would not hesitate to use any means to assert its dominance over Arab countries.

Additionally, several experts and analysts expressed their displeasure at the publication of such reports at this sensitive time, emphasizing that Israel is fully aware that any direct attack on the High Dam would constitute an open declaration of war with Egypt, a situation Tel Aviv cannot afford, especially given the current regional and international developments.

Official Reactions and Egypt’s Stance

In response, Egyptian officials attempted to downplay the significance of the report, affirming that it was purely “hypothetical” and not considered at a strategic or military level. Major General Osama Mahmoud, a military expert and consultant at the War College, stated that such scenarios do not reflect any real intentions, and that Israel knows well that any attack on the High Dam would provoke a violent Egyptian response, which could lead to an uncontrollable regional confrontation.

He confirmed that the Egyptian military possesses advanced defense capabilities to protect its vital facilities, and any attempt to undermine Egypt’s water security would be met with decisive actions from the Egyptian leadership. He added that these reports could be part of a psychological warfare campaign aimed at pressuring Cairo into making decisions aligned with Israeli and American interests.

Sisi Between American Pressure and Public Rejection

The publication of this scenario comes at a time when Egypt is facing immense pressure from the Trump administration, which is attempting to impose the plan for the relocation of Palestinians from Gaza to Sinai—a plan that Cairo has publicly rejected so far. However, observers believe that Egypt’s ability to resist this pressure may be limited, especially given the country’s difficult economic situation and its heavy reliance on annual American aid of $1.4 billion.

Some believe that President Sisi’s repeated statements about rejecting an alternative homeland may not be enough to halt these plans, especially as there are attempts to find a compromise that could implement the plan indirectly, raising fears among Egyptians about the future of their country and its role in protecting the Palestinian cause.

Threat or Psychological Warfare?

The question remains: Does this scenario represent a genuine threat to Egypt, or is it simply part of a psychological pressure campaign aimed at coercing Cairo into accepting American decisions? Regardless of the answer, the threat of attacking the High Dam reveals the level of escalation that Israel may resort to in pursuit of its goals, placing Egypt in a fateful challenge that requires a firm stance to prevent any attempts to undermine its sovereignty and national security.
