A newly created account on “X,” followed by another on Telegram, shared sensational information about the final moments leading up to the regime’s collapse, fueling speculation about the fate of the Assad family after Damascus fell to the Syrian armed opposition.
Final Moments Before the Escape
According to the alleged account, the Assad family had no prior plan to leave Syria. However, the rapid developments forced them to head to Damascus International Airport, where they met Maher al-Assad before being flown on a Russian military aircraft to Hmeimim Airbase. From there, they were smuggled to Russia on the evening of December 8, aboard a special military jet.
Mysterious Account Disappears
Within hours of publishing these revelations, the account suddenly disappeared, raising doubts about its authenticity.
