Misleading Claims: Video Allegedly Showing Pro-Palestinian Protests in Israel Debunked

Watan-Social media users circulated a video clip claiming to be from the occupied Palestinian territories, ‘Israel’, where protesters are seen raising Palestinian flags in solidarity with Gaza. However, upon investigation, it was found to be from a different location.

The occupied Palestinian territories, ‘Israel’, witnessed angry protests against the policies of the occupation Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu in his brutal war against Gaza. However, these protests did not extend to solidarity with Palestine, and there was no evidence of solidarity with the humanitarian tragedy in the besieged Gaza Strip.

Protests in Israel Against Netanyahu

According to the circulated footage, which was later confirmed to be from a different location, dozens of protesters were seen raising Palestinian flags while chanting “Freedom for Palestine” and holding solidarity banners with Gaza.

The circulated video was titled: “Urgent from the streets of Israel now,” within a video that garnered thousands of shares and comments from various social media pages.

This occurred concurrently with ongoing real protests organized by the opposition in Israel and families of hostages held in the Gaza Strip, but these protests were against Netanyahu’s policies without being directed towards sympathy with Palestine, Gaza, or the humanitarian tragedy in the sector.

The Reality of Solidarity with Gaza in Israeli Protests

In recent weeks, there has been escalating protest activity against Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, with tens of thousands participating, especially in Tel Aviv.

However, the protest activity in the circulated video was not in Israeli occupied areas as claimed, but in a different location.

It was revealed that the location was the “main train station in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam.”

This location witnessed several solidarity protests with Palestinians demanding a cessation of hostilities in the Gaza Strip.
