Unveiling the Impact of the Al-Aqsa Storm: How it Derailed Israel’s Diplomatic Agreements

Watan-The website “Jewish Insider” revealed that the impact of the “Al-Aqsa Storm” operation on October 7, 2023, was not limited to just postponing the potential normalization agreement with Saudi Arabia, but it also halted it with the largest Muslim country in the world, Indonesia.

According to the report by the website, the “Gaza War” resulted in postponing another agreement that was expected to be signed away from normalization with Saudi Arabia and was also postponed.

The agreement concerned historical diplomatic relations that were supposed to be established between the occupation state and Indonesia, according to the report monitored by “Watan”.

The “Al-Aqsa Storm” operation thwarted the agreement that could have been a shock to the world since Indonesia is one of the Muslim countries, and the agreement was almost the first of its kind between the occupation and that country.

Details of the Israeli-Indonesian Agreement According to the source, this agreement aimed to establish comprehensive diplomatic relations, including economic agreements, opening consular services, and cooperation in various fields.

The agreement also seeks to expand the Abrahamic agreements and enhance peace, coexistence, understanding, and mutual respect between religions, sects, and nationalities.

The agreement was ready to be signed in October 2023, and there were secret diplomatic efforts that lasted for 4 months to prepare the ground for it.

Secret Meeting For the aforementioned reasons, a secret meeting was held between the former Director-General of the Israeli Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Ronen Levy, and the advisor to the Indonesian President to reach the final agreement in September 2023.

The plan included opening communication offices in both the occupation state and Indonesia, and these offices were authorized to provide consular services in both countries.

The focus was also on enhancing cooperation in the fields of economy, trade, technology, development, and culture.

The agreement stipulated the support of both parties for the mechanism of “improving the daily life of the Palestinian people” and resolving the conflict through peace.

However, after the Al-Aqsa Storm operation and the Israeli escalation in Gaza, matters became complicated and intertwined.

Paving the way for normalization step Indonesia was interested in signing the normalization agreement as the agreement with Saudi Arabia approached.

The Indonesian regime aimed for public acceptance. In return, Indonesia planned to open a commercial office in Ramallah.

This report came despite Indonesia’s apparent positions supporting Gaza and condemning the brutal Israeli aggression against the Palestinians.

Indonesia witnessed massive protests calling for an end to the aggression and the entry of aid.
