The scenes were captured as Wael Al-Dahdouh engaged in play with the children in the courtyard of the Nasser Al-Tebi Complex in Khan Yunis, southern Gaza.
Wael Al-Dahdouh is an icon of Palestinian journalism in Gaza, symbolizing resilience in the face of the brutality experienced during the ongoing war in Gaza. He sustained severe injuries and lost a significant number of family members in Israeli attacks.
Egyptian nomination for an international award for Wael Al-Dahdouh
Khaled El-Balshy, the head of the Egyptian Journalists Syndicate, announced that the syndicate is preparing a file to nominate Wael Al-Dahdouh for the UNESCO International Courage Award, in addition to a syndicate award that has already been announced.
Jordanian tribute to Wael Al-Dahdouh
In recognition of Wael Al-Dahdouh’s sacrifices, the municipality of Al-Karak in southern Jordan named one of its streets after the martyr Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh, in honor of his father Wael Al-Dahdouh, the dean of journalists and father of the martyrs.
The municipality of Al-Karak, in a Facebook post, stated that the Greater Karak Municipality Council decided to name one of the streets after the martyr Hamza Wael Al-Dahdouh, as a tribute to the sacrifices of the dean of journalists and father of the martyrs, Wael Al-Dahdouh, and as an embodiment of the sacrifice and resilience of the people in the Gaza Strip.
Martyrdom of Hamza Al-Dahdouh
Journalist Hamza Al-Dahdouh was martyred a few days ago in an Israeli airstrike targeting a car carrying journalists, including the martyr Mustafa Tharaya, a journalist collaborating with Al Jazeera since the beginning of the war on October 7th last year.
Hamza Al-Dahdouh joined several other members of Wael’s family who were martyred during the ongoing war, including his wife, two other sons, and a grandson, in addition to other family members.
